Back from the Beantown!
Hello there! it's been a while since last post but oh well, I was pretty busy preparing myself for our trip to Boston (you may have heard that there is also a band called with that name he-he-he)I shot about 950 pictures with the digital camera, and almost 6 rolls with the Lubitel and my new beloved Canonet.
By clicking here, you can see a set of pictures I've selected by the heap.
And if you click here you can see the slideshow.
Hope you enjoy that, I'll post new pics as soon as the photoshop gives me the developed roll! :-)

first roll with the Canonet.

I just went to the photo store to take the result of my first roll with my "brand new" Canon Canonet QL17.For this first attempt with this camera I've used a roll of Kodak T-Max 400 during Christmas holidays and the month of January, I spent some time checking camera functions and manual switches and I have to say that I really love the feeling that this camera gives to you when you use it. It's quite heavy for its category but not too much, and it gives you the sensation of holding something solid and reliable.
I'm posting here a complete description of Canonet family cameras, taken from Camerapedia:
The Canon Canonet was released in 1961 and is remembered as Canon's first entry into the intermediate-class camera market, and also the first of the highly successful Canonet series of 35mm automatic-exposure rangefinder cameras.
The top plate only houses the shutter-release, with a locking ring for time-exposures, the frame counter and an accessory shoe. The clean lines of the top are achieved by putting the advance lever underneath, together with the rewind crank, rewind release and back catch. The advance lever had an end which hinged downwards, making it easy to operate using the left middle- or third-finger.
These controls on the bottom necessitate corresponding holes in the every-ready case. Rangefinder focusing is controlled by a lever attached to the focus ring, also at the bottom of the camera. The selenium meter cell is arranged around the Canon SE 45mm f1.9 lens - thus automatically compensating for filters; the aperture ring is scaled from f16 down to f1.9, followed by an "auto" setting (with a latch), for shutter priority automation. The Copal SV shutter has speeds from 1/500 down to 1sec, plus B. Film speed is set between 10-400 ASA by a lever in the shutter speed ring.
The viewfinder features a bright-line, and a scale showing the aperture. There is a PC socket beside the lens, and a switch on the lens barrel for X- or M-flash sync. There is a self-timer - set by a lever on the lens barrel.
The Canonet was also sold by Bell & Howell as the Bell & Howell / Canon Canonet 19.
and this is me with my new friend:
that's all folks! :-)

Sunday Night Live!

Hello there! the shots you see above have been taken yesterday at fabulous Devil's Den Pub in Salsomaggiore Terme, Italy.Vibeke Saugestad and Radio Days were playing there, for a special "pre-dinner Sunday show"!
Of course everything was pretty funny, we had some Beamish (oh I love that beer!), we talk with our friends, we laugh, we enjoyed the show, and we have ended the day having a meal at McDonalds at 11 p.m.! Definitely not a good idea... :-)

Monday night is like Saturday night.

Yesterday was a blast! I went with The Bigs (my bro Henry and his girlfriend Kate) to see Teenage Bottlerocket live at United Club in Turin.
It was a pretty funny show: no frills, just fast punkrock and the "one-two-TRI-four", so we lived our Monday night as a Saturday night.
Ok, as you may probably imagine, now I'm a liiiittle tired. :-)

Saturday Night Live.
Last saturday I went to Madly Pub in Castelnuovo Val Tidone, Italy, to see my good friends Miss Chain and The Broken Heels live.
Big Henry and Cate were with me, and the night was a blast! the concert was pretty funny and the bands were knowing how to play!
I finally heard Donald Thompson live and i have to say that they are a great band! Zanna sings and scream and play bass as well, and their music reminds me Hellacopters and stuff like that. And this is super-cool!
Silva confirms to the attendance that he is a real show man, an amazing entertainer.
The whole night was great, I saw my friend Lorenzo after a month, Cate took a lot of pictures with her new fisheye (that's fabulous!), Franz gives me a Miss Chain t-shirt and I really appreciate that, Astrid was super sweaty after the show and I told her "that's because you Rock!" and Brown, Big Henry and Silva were caught by a dance attack with the creepy songs by deejay's selection.
Thanks for everything guys,
Love,
A.

featured on Schmap Stockholm Guide
I'm really proud and happy to announce the picture you can see here has been chosen and it's now featured on Schmap Stockholm City Guide representing the amazing Stockholm City Library, which is one the most incredible places I've been: you can see it by clicking here.Just few infos about Stockholm Library:
Designed by Swedish architect Gunnar Asplund, the Municipal Public Library is one of the most characteristic buildings in Stockholm. The round cylinder of the main hall is its most distinct feature; with narrow reading halls around it. The library has both fiction and non-fiction, plus a large selection of books in foreign languages (including English).Schmap is a leading publisher of digital travel guides for 200 destinations throughout the United States, Europe, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
The last thing you have to do now is plan your trip to Stockholm, have fun and eat a lot of Punschrulle! :)
cheers

Yashica Mat EM
Finally I've uploaded on my Flickr page two shots I took this summer with my "brand new" Yashica Mat EM. this is an absolutely lovely TLR camera from mid-60s, I've bought it on the eBay and it really takes the worth of 70 $ I've spent.
here is an accurate description of the camera, taken from Camerapedia:
Released in 1964, the Yashica-Mat EM features an uncoupled light meter and an 80mm f/3.5 Yashinon shooting lens. The "EM" stands for Exposure Meter, referring to the uncoupled selenium cell exposure meter in front of the viewfinder. It's an all-mechanical camera; even the light meter doesn't need a battery. The Yashica-Mat EM is a solidly made, easy-to-use camera. It can be found for a reasonable price on eBay, and is an excellent introduction to medium-format photography.
It's clearly an evolution in the line of the 1957 Yashica-Mat and the 1958 Yashica-Mat LM. It differs from the latter camera only in its easier-to-use exposure meter. It has a Copal MXV leaf shutter, capable of speeds ranging from B and 1 second to 1/500s. It offers flash sync at all speeds. The taking lens is a 3.5 Yashinon, an 80 mm four-element lens said to be of the Tessar design. It can be stopped down to F/22. The viewing lens is a 3.2 Yashinon.
It accepts bay I filters. Shutter speeds and diaphragm are set by two wheels on the front plate, the values set are shown in a window above the viewing lens. Focusing is done by a focusing wheel on the left of the camera. It has a distance scale surrounded by a depth of field scale engraved in the body. There is a small window in which you can set the ISO and DIN value of the film you use. ISO 400 is the highest value. The exposure meter is not coupled, so setting this speed is more a reminder than of any practical use.
The body is all-metal, covered by black leather. It is quite a heavy camera, about 1.2 Kg. Film transport and cocking the shutter is done by a crank. Winding makes a rattling noise.Looking onto the ground glass in the waist-level finder, the selected shutter speed, aperture and light meter indications are visible. Its viewing hood contains a fresnel screen with red grid lines (5×5) to help composition. For exact focusing, it has a magnifying loupe. The back plate of the waist level finder could be flipped open to expose the sports finder for additional composition possibilities.
The camera is loaded by opening the bottom: turn towards the "O" to open. It uses 120-rollfilm only, on which it takes 6×6 pictures (or more accurately: 55mm × 55mm) here she is:
here is a pic from my first roll with the camera; this was made with Fuji Provia 100 asa slide film:
